Power Cord Emergency Averted

On a recent overnight stay at the Port Browning Marina on Pender Island our power cord came out of the plug-in during the night. Peter, a fellow member of the Brentwood Bay Power Squadron and the squadrons electrical expert came to our rescue. A piece of bungee cord and the plastic clip used for holding down tarps provided the perfect solution to secure the power cord.

Always be extremely careful when using ship-to-shore power as improperly connected power cords can increase the risk of electric shock drowning in your marina.

Spotted! Canadian Boating in Antigua & Barbuda

I wore my Canadian Boating cap everywhere I went in Antigua, for the sun, not for the shout-outs. But I sure received a lot of them.

Antigua Sailing Week is an international regatta that draws sailors of every level and spectators from all over the world. Yet I couldn’t walk across a room without being hailed by a Canadian who was as excited to see my cap as they were to see the racing. I met many who were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th visit.
