Rendez-Vous Champlain

Rendezvous Champlain

From July 31st until August 2nd 2015, Penetanguishene will host Rendez-Vous Champlain. This event will commemorate 400 years since the arrival of French explorer Samuel de Champlain in Huronia and French presence in Ontario.

Rendez-Vous Champlain will take place at Rotary Champlain Wendat Park, a $2.8M legacy project that will transform 35 acres of prime waterfront park land into a historic landmark. The park is currently under construction and will be unveiled the weekend of the event. Highlights of Rendez-Vous Champlain will include the Procession of 400 Years, the Feast of Three Sisters Gala, and concerts under the stars featuring Franco-Canadian artists. Saturday night’s Order of Good Cheer concert will allow people to party like it’s 1615 presenting Andee, Damien Robitaille and Roch Voisine. Saturday and Sunday daytime activities will include historical re-enactments, interactive displays, demonstrations, aboriginal craft vendors, an authentic food market and more.

Tour packages are also available to those who are looking to maximize their experience at Rendez-Vous Champlain and explore the Heart of Georgian Bay. Between boat tours, helicopter rides, delicious local meals and guided tours at both Sainte-Marie among the Hurons and Martyrs’ Shrine, these packages offer the opportunity to experience the rich history and exceptional beauty of the area.

I’m a boater – I always take friends and visitors to Frind when we’re on the boat.

Frind Winery is the perfect place for boaters to go for lunch or dinner in the Kelowna area.  You can tie up on the dock or beach your pontoon on the spacious beach.

Frind has an Italian style brick pizza oven for gourmet pizzas and a great selection of other menu items.  You can eat on the patio, at a picnic table, on the beach, or on the lawn. You can also get your order to go and enjoy your meal out on the lake.
