WAVES Regatta Raises $175,000 for Easter Seals
The 2012 National Bank Easter Seals WAVES Regatta drew 169 dinghies and keelboats to Royal Vancouver Yacht Club June 23-24, raising $175,000 to support operations at Vancouver’s Easter Seals House.
WAVES is produced annually by the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities in partnership with RVYC.
Catch Me, skippered by Philip Cragg, won the Easter Seals Cup, while top fundraising sailor was once again Rick Reynolds, who secured $7,000 in boat sponsorships.
Vancouver Easter Seals House, on Oak Street, has 49 rooms and provides a low-cost, caring place to stay for more than 100 parents and children every night – approximately 32,000 stays each year. It supports families to stay faced with medical trauma, needed treatment or surgery.
