Waggoner Guide Offers Alaska Flotillas and Seminars

For the first time, the publishers of the Waggoner Cruising Guide are offering guided flotilla cruises up the Inside Passage to Ketchikan, Alaska – the ideal introduction to this major West Coast adventure for boaters who’d prefer to tackle it in company.

The three flotillas have proven very popular right from the time they were announced, and as of late February there were just a few spots left in the trips leaving Anacortes on May 17 and May 31; a third cruise departing June 14 is full.

Cruises are limited to eight to 10 boats per group, and vessels registered range from 22 to 85’. The $1,495 US cost includes:

•    expert route guidance, daily briefings and weather updates
•    constant VHF contact with the flotilla leader
•    marina and restaurant reservations, and social events such as a special prawn and crab dinner at Pierre’s Echo Bay
•    Copies of the 2014 Waggoner Cruising Guide, 2014 Ports and Passes, Exploring the South Coast of British Columbia, Exploring the North Coast of British Columbia, Exploring Southeast Alaska, and Inside Passage Planning Maps
•    50 per cent discount on the Waggoner’s Cruising Alaska seminar.

The seminar “Cruising BC and the Inside Passage to Alaska” is designed to prepare those heading north in the flotillas above or on their own. Cruising experts will offer strategies and practical tips for preparing your crew and your boat, planning for weather and suggested itineraries. Topics will also include top places to visit, where to find prawns, crab, halibut and salmon, and the best restaurants and shopping.

Space is available in the April 25-27 seminar. Classes take place at Anacortes Yacht Club, and slips are available at nearby Cap Sante Marina by calling 360-293-0694.
