Sail GP Scheduled Again for Halifax in 2027

2024 Halifax was a hit, paused in 2025, back next month for 2026 and now scheduled for 2027!

On May 20, SailGP announced that the action will return to Halifax for a third time year with the Canada Sail Grand Prix officially confirmed for May 15-16, 2027 as part of the Rolex SailGP Championship’s most ambitious global season calendar to date. Halifax Harbour will once again host the championship’s fleet of high-speed F50 catamarans as one of four North American events on the 2027 calendar.

The announcement comes exactly one month prior to the 2026 edition of the event, which is expected to welcome thousands of spectators along the Halifax waterfront from June 20-21. The harbor’s unique racecourse offers fans spectacular close-to-shore viewing as teams race at speeds exceeding 100 km/h (60 mph) against the backdrop of one of Canada’s most historic coastal cities.

Sail Nova Scotia Board of Directors President Sarah Flanagan said: “We’re proud to see Halifax once again recognized as a world-class sailing destination.”

Annie Haeger, NorthStar SailGP Team strategist, said: “Halifax is one of the highlights of the SailGP calendar for both the athletes and the fans. The energy on the waterfront is incredible, and the racecourse creates some of the most exciting and challenging conditions we see all year. Canadian fans have really embraced SailGP, and as a team, we’re excited to return and race again in such an iconic harbour.”

The Canada Sail Grand Prix will form part of SailGP’s expanded 13-event global championship season, which spans Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America and the Middle East. Halifax will feature prominently within the North American leg of the championship alongside events in San Francisco, Bermuda and New York.

This will be the third time Halifax hosts the Canada Sail Grand Prix, having previously sold out the 2024 edition of the event and driving an economic impact of USD$45 million to the city, supporting local businesses across the region.
