New Toys: The Hydroflyer Sport

Hydrofoiler Sport

May 8, 2025

A cross between a hover-board, and a jet-ski, the Hydroflyer is the most advanced electric hydro-foiling board ever created.  And it’s Canadian; designed and built in BC!

The Hydroflyer is 100% electric, that means it requires no fuel, creates no fumes or pollution, recharges rapidly in any standard AC power outlet, and requires barely any maintenance. It operates with a wifi controller attached to the handlebars to control the speed. The controller feeds the signal to the onboard computer, which in turn signals the lithium battery to power on the virtually silent motor. Once the rider reaches a speed of around 4-5 knots, the power of lift and thrust begin to work their magic, and the Hydroflyer starts to lift out of the water.

Gone is the signature V-nose of the Cruiser model, but what it loses in water-piercing capability, it more than makes up for with an ultra-light swing weight and an unobstructed view of the water beneath you. The result? A ride that’s nimbler, more responsive, and built for riders who crave an aggressive, action-packed experience.

Paired with a smaller foil, it makes for a more aggressive ride. Glide, carve, and push your limits whether you’re getting your tips out though a turn, charging across a wave or jumping off them on your way back out, the Hydroflyer Sport is built to handle it.

The battery is a 2.45 KWH lithium-ion battery that will give you anywhere from 1.5- 3 hours of run time, depending on how hard you like to push it. With a full carbon fibre frame to an overbuilt upper mast and handlebars, this board is made for thrill-seekers who never hold back

If you’ve already had firsthand experience with a pontoon, you will easily understand the appeal of the Bennington 22 MSB. But if you haven’t, let’s start by reviewing a few of the reasons why pontoon boats have become top sellers in markets across North America.

Pontoon boats began in the early 1950s as basically four steel drums lashed to a frame. They were not unlike the log rafts of ancient cultures and not much more sophisticated at first.

The Best of Two Worlds

By Mathew Channer

Interior British Columbia might not be as famous for recreational boating as Canada’s Great Lakes, yet it is no less a world-class boating destination. The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
