Gear: Accon Bow Light for Safety

Accon marine Bow Light

May 22, 2025

Late at night or in the early hours of the morning, boaters need reliable navigation lights to ensure their safety. Accon Marine’s innovative Pop-Up® C-5 Approved Bow Light combines the convenience of a retractable fitting with the rugged construction and stringent testing needed for ABYC C-5 compliance.

The Pop-Up C-5 Approved Bow Light is NMMA type accepted, meets COLREG 72 and is Coast Guard-approved for two nautical miles. Yet with all its brightness, the powerful red and green LEDs consume a mere 0.73–0.97mA of power.

Manufactured from polished marine-grade 316 stainless steel for low maintenance and a premium appearance, the light folds down flush into its base when not in use, creating a clean, snag-free deck. When needed, a simple press of the integrated release button instantly extends the light into its 2.15″ operating position.

Installing the pre-wired C-5 light is simple. The 4.43″ x 4″ base requires a 3.5″ hole and is held in place with three #10 stainless steel screws. An optional plastic waterproofing cup prevents unwanted runoff below the deck. For owners upgrading from older Accon bow lights, the cutout/hole pattern is identical.

The Best of Two Worlds

Interior British Columbia might not be as famous for recreational boating as Canada’s Great Lakes, yet it is no less a world-class boating destination. The mountains offer their own flavour of marine adventure with their series of long, deep ribbon lakes, and there is perhaps no area that embodies this more uniquely than the iconic Okanagan basin in southern B.C. One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
