The CYOB Survey: A Results blizzard

Last issue we gave you the opportunity to participate in our COVID-19 survey. And did you ever. We got an avalanche of response and we are still analyzing it.
We promised to pick a lucky survey respondent for a prize pack and the winner is Ron Davis! Congrats Ron! Thank you to all who participated.
Next issue, May 14, we will have a new set of questions for you and a new prize pack too!
Results
We asked a number of questions, but Q8 – What most concerns you about boating this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic? – brought some really telling response. Here’s some of your comments:
Not getting my boats in the water for the first weekend in May
No concerns at all. Just want to get on my boat ASAP. I actually feel safer on my boat than anywhere else.
Ability to launch. Our club is volunteer-run, and Launch Day is a huge event involving a couple hundred people. It’s already been postponed a month and I wouldn’t be surprised if that goes longer.
Not being able to boat this summer!! We love boating with our family!!
This sounds horrible, but I’m worried we won’t be able to get our boat into the water at all. I’m heartbroken, but understand where my priorities need to lie.
Social/Physical distancing is not possible on a crewed racing sailboat.
People not being careful about distancing.
People not staying home Until it is safe
Boaters that think it’s ok to go boating
Not boating at all but if that’s 5he right thing to do then that’s what we will do
My concern is that if everybody not following the restrictions.We are not gonna have a boat season.I just want back on the water but being safe and staying away is my small part of doing my job during the pandemic.Cheers to all boaters

Make sure of the safety of my self and others
I worry that we go back too early to lessen the blow to the economy and risk a second worse wave. Stay home now so we can all play later. Please. Toronto First Responder

Losing the social contact around the marina and the yacht club for the entire summer.
Maintaining physical distancing at the marina. The cleanliness of shared facilities – especially washrooms. Availability of fuel and pumpouts.
I’m going to miss the rivers and lakes, but no way will I launch my boat. We have to beat this nasty virus by staying home.
The camaraderie is what I am missing
Mostly concerned about the general pandemic and impact, not so much about boating; for boating the closure of marinas and facilities will probably reduce our activity.
Rude and impatient boaters.
The fiscal health of the small marina shops, dealers and the marinas themselves with no traffic. Will they make it through this season? I sincerely hope so.
That other people do not take this seriously and think that they are entitled to gather at the marina or worse yet raft up on the water.
It will be a late start, if at all. We must make sure we past this before we get back to boating, we need to keep our social distancing etc until the cases reduce.
People not respecting the measures put in place to keep us safe. I understand that everyone wants to get on the water but it is more important that we be safe and keep our vulnerable community safe.
I just bought a boat. No idea when I’ll be able to take delivery.
