Ted Perrin
Conception Bay

Ted Perrin is proud to be a Conception Bay, Newfoundland native. He’s lived there all his life and spends a lot of time in the summer on the local beaches exploring coves, caves and islands.

I was almost born in a boat. As soon as I could sit upright, I was with dad on his boat. After high school, I went to marine college, earning my Watchkeeping Mate Certificate. I operate a 26ft Canadian Custom RIB Zodiac, a retired Department of Fisheries + Ocean enforcement vessel. Plus a 17ft Polaris RIB, a retired Coast Guard boat. Also, a 26ft Fast Rescue Craft (FRC).

I was doing some training in Halifax on sea survival, went to the Halifax boat show and met the C-Tow owner. I knew C-Tow wasn’t active in our region, we got talking, and it was a great fit. I am the first C-Tow Captain in Newfoundland.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Andrew Newman

White Rock

Andrew Newman knows a lot about water safety. He served as a rescue volunteer with the Royal Canadian Marine Service and Rescue (RCM-SAR) for a decade.  He also owns and operates White Rock Sea Tours and Whale Watching. In his few off hours, he helps educate his local community about conservation and the environment.

I live with my wife, our 2 children and our German Shepherd, Chewy, in this small waterfront community south of Vancouver. There’s always a friendly face no matter where I go. My area includes White Rock, Surrey, Boundary Bay, Twasawwasen, Southern Georgia Straight and the Southern Gulf Islands.

There’s nothing like setting out for the Gulf Islands. On Saturna Island, we visit the fabulous Lighthouse Pub at Lyle Harbour. The seafood there is incredible. Saturna is also a beautiful island to enjoy kayaking, hiking and camping. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Melissa Curtis

Comox

Melissa Curtis is an outdoor kind of gal who has always been into unusual ways of making a living. After eight seasons with a roller derby team where she competed, coached and trained, she’s thrilled to be the only female C-Tow Captain.

My partner Pasha and I live in beautiful Comox on Vancouver Island. It’s a small community, and skiing on nearby Mount Washington and being close to water and nature are the things we love about living here.

One of our favourite local spots is Sandy Island Marine Provincial Park, known as ‘Tree Island’ offers lovely sandy beaches to explore. It’s also fun to anchor our boat and jump into the water for a swim.
