What Plan? Your Plan…..Strategic Priority #2 – Membership

Membership Plan

May 9, 2019

The 2016-2020 Strategic Plan lists five key Priorities and Membership is the second of the five. Since our last update, the Membership Priority has continued to improve on the 5 goals within the Priority and following are a few highlights since the beginning of the year when we last reported:

…Membership renewals has been kept on track with fewer non renewals than in the past. This positive impact is a result of the efforts from the Squadron (SMO) and District Membership Officers (DMO) as well as the tracking of lapsed members more aggressively. Support from our benefit suppliers is of great value also

…the SMO’s and DMO’s have new tools to promote Membership in the classroom and at events. The Membership Department and Educational Department met in Toronto in March to collaborate on this effort so they each promote the benefits of Membership and additional educational programs.

…now that we are in the time of year that we change Officers, one committee member will be confirming that all Squadrons and Districts have a representative for Membership…critical to the success of the programs being revised and updated

…you may have noticed that the Member Benefits are now more prominent in the electronic publications that are going out to all Members regularly. These are not limited just to Membership but are also targeting Education also…showing the true partnership being created within the two departments.

…as stated previously, Membership truly feels like a team and now they have joined forces with the Educational team creating an even greater strength in their messages.

All in all, this Strategic Priority continues to be very well addressed, and everyone involved is to be congratulated. This is one of the Priorities that continues to reach across all levels of the organization and those working on it are demonstrating some of the very things outlined in other Priorities – identifying gaps in (Membership) Officer roles, providing Officers with tools and resources to make their jobs easier to do and providing them with info on how to do their jobs and when, making (Membership) Officers feel valued, strengthening relationships between Squadrons, Districts and National, communicating effectively….etc.

It is the hope that Squadrons and Districts are looking closely at this Priority to see how they too can implement the Goals as stated.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome, please contact the Planning Committee.

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
