LOXtreme – a 900 to 1,000 NM Race on Lake Ontario?

April 23, 2026

LOOR: Are you up for it?

Lake Ontario Offshore Racing is considering running a 900 to 1,000 NM race, the LOXtreme, for Single-handed, Double-handed and Fully Crewed boats. If you are an owner of a sailboat that could meet the Offshore Special Regulations (OSR) for Category 3 without a life raft and might be interested in such a race, please complete the Survey linked below.

More details are provided in the survey itself. The survey will close on May 15, 2026. Please send any inquires or comments to info@loor.ca.

Two possible options are presented for consideration in survey.

Option 1 is continuous, non-stop race would consist of three components:

1st – LO300, 2nd – LO600, 3rd – LOXtreme

At least the LOXtreme component would have a course different from the first component, the LO300.

Option 2 is a follow-on to the LO300 with one allowable stop in the remaining 600 to 700 NM.

Boats would need to meet and comply with eligibility entry requirements for the LO600.
