Events: Try Model Boating with Metro Marine Modellers — June 22

On June 22, the Metro Marine Modellers invite the public to their Give it a Try event on Sunday, June 22, from 10 AM to 2PM at Mississauga’s Lakefront Promenade, near the eastern side of the park by the Douglas Kennedy Headlands Playground. This free event offers a unique opportunity to experience radio-controlled model boating firsthand. Boats will be provided, and everyone — including beginners — is welcome to take the controls and discover the fun of the hobby.

Scale model

All three divisions of the Metro Marine Modellers will be showcased- as members of the Canadian Radio Yachting Association (CRYA) they divide their fleets into three divisions – sail, scale and static (model building). Members will be on hand to demonstrate, answer questions, and help newcomers try out the boats.

Models – every weekend

The Metro Marine Modellers are a passionate group of enthusiasts who share a love for model boating and are eager to welcome new members. With sail as the most popular division, members meet at the Lakeshore Promenade Marina in Mississauga, every weekend from May to October to race!

 Following a successful 2024 sailing season, they are excited to share their hobby with the community and showcase the wide variety of model boating.

Spotted! Canadian Boating in Antigua & Barbuda

I wore my Canadian Boating cap everywhere I went in Antigua, for the sun, not for the shout-outs. But I sure received a lot of them.

Antigua Sailing Week is an international regatta that draws sailors of every level and spectators from all over the world. Yet I couldn’t walk across a room without being hailed by a Canadian who was as excited to see my cap as they were to see the racing. I met many who were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th visit.
