The Broad Reach Spring Thaw

The Photo of the Week was delivered right after the last spring blizzard when boaters from all over the GTA gathered for The Broad Reach Spring Thaw. Thanks to the East Coast theme the event evolved into a Kitchen Party –  shanties were sung, fiddles were deployed, chowder was spilled and everyone partied to raise funds for the Foundation. These highly themed participants were part of the Apron Fashion Contest. We’re not sure exactly who won.

These photos from the event were supplied Janis Rees, Kaleidoscope Photography. Janis is a serious photographer, but you needn’t be. All you need for Photo of the Week is a great shot of anything boating. A fine party like this one, kids on a boat or a peaceful morning at an anchorage. Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
