Beverage Container Does the Job and Gives Something Back

Hydro Flask

Inspired in 2008 on a beach in Hawaii by many beverage containers that were not doing a good job of keeping fluids cold on a hot day, Travis Rosbach began the process that lead to the creation of the first Hydro Flask, incorporating principles of vacuum insulation, safety (BPA-free), food grade stainless steel, a range of durable colours and a charitable arm called FivePercentBack.org.

A Hydro Flask is a reusable water bottle that truly performs in any environment.  It keeps hot liquids hot and cold liquids cold.   Keeps your cold liquids cold for 24 hours, and your hot liquids hot for 12 hours.  Made from food grade 18/8 Stainless Steel, Hydro Flask stainless steel water bottles are safe and 100% BPA-free. 18/8 stainless steel is remarkably light, yet extremely durable.

Features that set the Hydro Flask apart from other beverage containers:
1. Sweat Free – double wall vaccuum insulation prevents condensation
2. Ouch Free – no matter the temperature inside the container, the exterior remains comfortable to the touch
3. Non-Toxic, Food Grade Powder Coating – you can safely lick it if you want to
4. Soy-Based Ink for Logos
5. High Quality, Food Grade 18/8 Stainless Steel
6. Vaccuum Insulated Technology – first and only all vaccuum insulated bottle company in the world.  A lifetime guarantee puts their money where their mouths are.
7. Hots Hot for at Least 12 Hours
8. Colds Cold for 24 Hours and More

The Erie Canal – An Extraordinary Waterway

By Mark Stevens

As I shift our chartered canal boat into neutral, I’m soothed by the soundtrack of bird calls, the occasional plaintive horn of a distant train and the hum of our engine.

I reach for the VHF to radio the lockmaster in charge of Erie Canal’s Lock 32 dead ahead. Our boat spins gently in the current like a maple key in a mud puddle.

“This is Onondaga,” I say. “Headed westbound and requesting passage.”
