2014 WOW Regatta Registering Now

On Saturday June 21st, 2014, the 4th annual WOW Women’s Regatta will be hosted at Etobicoke Yacht Club and race committee is sponsored by Port Credit Yacht Club. The Regatta is for seasoned and new women racers.  Bring your boat with or without crew. They have a crew bank of women needing a ride.

 
Registration Fee is $25 per person which includes a BBQ Dinner. The evening will wrap up with the awards presentation to which everyone is invited, additional dinners $12.

Recently there has been an increase in conversation regarding the announcement by Peter Kent, Minister of the Environment, this past spring that “recreational lockage fees along Canada’s historic canals will remain frozen for the next three years at 2008 levels”.  As boaters have begun using the lock systems and all of the associated services, reader feedback indicates that in spite of the government’s ‘good news’ announcement, there are increases in moorage charges, reductions in hours of service and reductions in staffing.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
