Sun Odyssey 380: A highly anticipated renewal
July 22, 2021
The Sun Odyssey 380 will be making her North American Debut at the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis in October.
The Sun Odyssey 380, has fulfilled her mission by offering a safe, simple, and enjoyable cruising experience. In addition to being particularly safe, with unencumbered sidedecks and comfortable coamings, this Sun Odyssey features a lower boom, facilitating access to the sail and increasing the sail area.
While the design recalls the classics of the line, consideration has been given to perception of interior volume and the simplification of lines, offering a feeling of calm. Defined by clean, contemporary lines, the interior is at once surprising and unified, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable.
The interior design reveals the surprising potential for a sailboat of this size. The bulkheads and the treatment of interior volume have been reconsidered in an atypical fashion to visually and physically augment usable space on board. The eye follows the interior lines easily and without interruption.
The saloon is exceptionally bright, with a warm, harmonious design. The starboard lateral sofa is a major advantage in this inviting space, favouring relaxation. Featuring a convertible design, it affords comfort at sea and at port, with an asymmetrical mast bulkhead that allows for comfortable seating and an armrest, as well as an appreciable volume of storage space.
The contemporary, L-shaped galley of the Sun Odyssey 380 is perfectly laid out. This ultra-functional galley features multiple storage areas. A large-capacity drawer is accessible at the centre of the sailboat to complement the storage compartments in the galley.
Features:
A hard chine continues to the bow of the boat for a more powerful and stable hull – An inverted bow for smooth entry into the water, better weight distribution, and a distinctive look – A forefoot clear of the water for less wet surface area and greater speed – Twin rudders with self-aligning rudder bearings, for greater responsiveness at the helm – A tunnel-mounted bowthruster pour greater ease of handling – An L-shaped keel – An integrated bowsprit.
This 38-footer features an optional lifting keel with the same performance as a deep keel. Complemented with the option of beaching legs, this lifting keel version perfectly meets the expectations of those who wish to sail in shallower waters and beach at low tide.
In the owner’s cabin, this new model offers a parental suite private head and shower compartment and a generous hanging locker. With her large rectangular berths, the mattresses are wide and comfortable, just like at home! The guest cabins also feature a contemporary and harmonious layout, whether in the two- or three-cabin version. A spacious separate shower is also possible on the two-cabin version.
