CY Magazine: May issue aims at summer family fun

CY May 2021

Apr 8, 2021

With the start of the 2021 boating season, Canadian Yachting takes a look at the latest towed wake sports activities. The soaring popularity of wake surfing has driven big changes to water sports tow boats and has opened the door to participation for the whole family. Even if we are still asked to “socially distance” this summer, boating activities like wake surfing can provide fun for the whole family. In the May 2021 issue, we look at a selection the most popular wake surf boats, many featuring the new forward drives by Volvo Penta and MerCruiser.

In Ontario, we anticipate a very active season on the Parks Canada canals, the Trent-Severn Waterway and the Rideau Waterway. To whet your appetite for a visit to the Trent, we have a pictorial titled, Ahoy by a Century! This is a section of photography, old and new, commemorating the 100 (+1) years of through-navigation on the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada. Follow the suggestions and plan to help commemorate this historic milestone of one hundred years of boating on the Trent-Severn Waterway.

The story, A Main Course of Boating Convenience Served Up with a Side of Environmental Goodness is a profile of the Bay Port Yachting Centre in Midland Harbour. Bay Port’s indoor storage building with “on call” launch and retrieval to secure indoor storage delivers the most convenient and complete boating experience on Georgian Bay with environmental benefits to boot.

Another tech editorial is Add A Shade – Cool Comfort with Convenience. With our aging populations and accelerating climate change, we explore new options for easily deployed shade that can make a day onboard, far more comfortable.

Also in this issue, read our Sail Review on the magnificent Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 54. All this and more in the May 2021 Canadian Yachting magazine!
