Halifax Boat Show 2021

Nov 19, 2020

Halifax is on!

Show producer, Master Promotions, has announce that the Halifax Boat Show will return for its scheduled 2021 date at the Halifax Exhibition Centre. After working diligently with the Province of Nova Scotia, the Chief Medical Officer, Boating Atlantic and the facility, new safety measures have been put in place that will allow the show to return February 4-7, 2021.

The 2021 edition of the show will still welcome many of the same dealers that visitors have come to expect, and will showcase hundreds of boats on site, plus boating lifestyle products and services that the event traditionally offers. Event partners at trade organization Boating Atlantic anticipate big demand once again this spring.

All exhibitors and show visitors will be from the Atlantic Provinces only; anyone who has travelled outside the Atlantic Bubble within 14 days of the show will not be permitted to attend. During the event, one “bubbled group” at a time will be allowed aboard each boat to view, with frequent sanitization of high-touch surfaces such as gunnels, steering wheels, seats, tables, etc.

Additional safety measures will include:

• Mandatory masks in all locations inside the building, except while eating or drinking in the seated restaurant area.
• Directional aisles and social distancing measures, as well as lots of signage to help attendees navigate.
• Additional staff onsite to help with traffic flow, monitor social distancing, and answer questions.
• Online ticketing to facilitate contact tracing and minimize congestion at the entrance.
• Enhanced cleaning protocols and easy-to-access sanitization stations located throughout the building.

Toronto Sportsmens ShowToronto Sportsmen Show postponed

For over 70 years, the Toronto Sportsmen’s Show has been a favourite for thousands of outdoor enthusiasts and welcomes hundreds of exhibitors annually. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we have decided to postpone next year’s show, which was scheduled to take place March 18-21, 2021 at the International Centre. The rescheduled event will now take place March 17-20, 2022.

This decision was not taken lightly, but the health and safety of our exhibitors, partners, visitors, and contractors is our top priority. Additional factors leading to the show’s postponement included the ability to provide a quality audience to the exhibitors and adequate time to produce a successful show.

The Erie Canal – An Extraordinary Waterway

By Mark Stevens

As I shift our chartered canal boat into neutral, I’m soothed by the soundtrack of bird calls, the occasional plaintive horn of a distant train and the hum of our engine.

I reach for the VHF to radio the lockmaster in charge of Erie Canal’s Lock 32 dead ahead. Our boat spins gently in the current like a maple key in a mud puddle.

“This is Onondaga,” I say. “Headed westbound and requesting passage.”
