Quadrant Marine Institute is looking for a Community Relations Administrator to join our Marine Service Technician training team at our head office in Sidney, BC. This dynamic position will support our team of instructors, apprentices, and employer partners across BC’s small craft/recreational marine service industry.

Roles & Responsibilities

As a member of the core team, the Community Relations Administrator will support the growth of Quadrant’s training program:

• Raise the awareness of the program in BC and across Canada
• Update and improve our existing website and social media channels
• Support our instructors and core admin team with video and technology apps
• Build relationships with apprentices and employer partners
• Update program and promotional materials using Adobe Suite
• Perform general admin tasks in MS Office
• Training event planning and scheduling

The position will start at 20hours per week and grow with the company. Afternoon and early evening work is typical Monday through Thursday, with occasional evenings or weekend work during the September to April training season. Flexible time is possible May through August in coordination with the team.

Your Qualifications

You are a ‘people person’ focused on positive customer experiences and community engagement.

You have strong communication skills (interpersonal, oral, and written English).

You are organized and manage your time to meet deadlines.

You work well independently and in collaboration with a small team.

You like to learn and also share what you know.

You have a valid BC driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.

Your Experience

You have planning, scheduling, and promotion experience (basic photography and video creation would be an asset).

You have certifications or work experience with software applications e.g., Adobe InDesign, MS Office, SquareSpace, and various social media apps.

Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate their connection to the marine industry, trades work and/or trades education.

Combination of education, work experience, and relevant references will all be considered.

We are dedicated to the delivery of apprenticeship technical training and work-based competency assessment for the small craft/recreational marine service industry. Our program is currently based in Nanaimo, Sidney and Vancouver; our graduates proudly hold BC Marine Service Technician journeyperson credentials.

Our training reach extends across the traditional lands and waters of many BC First Nations including the Coast Salish, Nuu chah nulth, and Kwakiutl first peoples on Vancouver Island and the Tsleil-Waututh, Squamish, Musqueam, Hwlitsum, Katzie, Kwantlen, Kwikwetlem, Matsqui, Qayqayt, Semiahmoo, Tsawwassen, and Stó:lō Nations in the lower mainland.
