This weekend’s road trip: the Bay Bridge Boat Show
Apr 11, 2019
Celebrating more than 30 years, the Bay Bridge Boat Show at Bay Bridge Marina (April 12-14, 2019) on the Chesapeake will once again present the latest in boating gear and accessories along with over 400 boats of every style, size, and color.
The 1970 debut of the United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland marked a new concept — the first in-water sailboat show in the country. Today, the Annapolis Boat Shows has an unsurpassed reputation for offering the most comprehensive boating exhibitions in the industry. Canadians have been part of the audience for the Annapolis show, heading to Maryland after the boat has been hauled in eastern Canada. The show typically coincides with Canadian Thanksgiving.
The same organizers run a show largely for powerboats in the spring. Prior to launching our own boats, a quick spin south makes a lot of sense. Like the Annapolis show, it’s in the water and like that show, there’s a broader range of boat models than can fit into most indoor shows.
At the show, you can board and inspect virtually every new model on the market, make side-by-side comparisons, and talk to industry representatives about all aspects of buying and owning a boat. Exhibitors are highly motivated to put you in the boat of your dreams at a great price, even with exchange. In addition, one can shop from a vast display of boating products and services — everything from electronics to foul weather gear from the giant US market. It’s always a fun and informative day exploring boats and boat supplies.
The Bay Bridge Boat Show now features several boating seminars and workshops, entertainment options, the PropTalk Demo Dock to try before you buy, and a new VIP Experience presented by LH Finance. The VIP Experience is designed for those who wish to enjoy boat shows with an enhanced level of service with reserved parking next to the gate, delicious buffets catered by Hemingway’s and all day drink tastings in a relaxed and comfortable area removed from the rest of the show. This experience will provide an unforgettable day at the show. BoatUS Foundation is offering their boating workshops by registering on their web site, or you can relax and enjoy a cocktail at the many beverage stations, the food court, or the pool bar. Adult fun and even a play area for kids will round out the offerings at this year’s show.
A weekend of activity on the Eastern Shore in early April will be beautiful with blossoms in full bloom and motel and hotel options are available just down the road, along with restaurants, brewpubs, and entertainment to suit every taste. It will all be happening here shortly, but as the sun gets closer, the weather warms, and the flowers burst out in Maryland, let the boating season begin.
