Our friend Lisa McLean, marketing manager at Le Boat sends along this timely story. You’ll love it!

“Attached is a new editorial promote Le Boat to Royal Wedding Watchers and travel to the UK this spring and take part in the royal celebrations between Meghan Markle and Price Harry. What better way to take in the upcoming noble nuptials than by travelling along the River Thames onboard your own private Le Boat canal cruiser? “

After much speculation Prince Harry finally popped the question to American actress and longtime Toronto resident Meghan Markle and people are EXCITED.

“This milestone event undoubtedly puts the global media spotlight on Britain. If the 2011 British tourism boom that resulted from the union of Prince William and Kate Middleton is any indicator, Windsor will be the place to be in May, 2018”, said Gavin Landry Visit Britain Executive Vice President Americas.

Le Boat InteriorWhat better way to take in the upcoming noble nuptials than by travelling along the River Thames onboard your own private Le Boat canal cruiser? Combining luxury, history and stops at all the must see royal sites on your private Thames river cruise.

Le Boat is Europe’s largest self-drive boat rental company and has created the perfect itinerary on the Thames River, aptly named “The Royal Cruise,” so travelers can enjoy the royal wedding atmosphere and take part in the celebrations.

The River Thames is one of the world’s most historic waterways taking you to Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace and Cliveden House. The waterway is England’s longest river spanning 215 miles. It played a key part in the UK’s history and is strewn with quintessential English villages, welcoming pubs, culturally rich cities like Oxford, luscious countryside and great fishing spots!

“With no previous experience or boating license required, a Le Boating vacation on the River Thames is perfect way for royal watchers to travel through South East England and visit all the royal sites and if lucky- spot a member of the Royal Family along the way!“ says Cheryl Brown, Managing Director at Le Boat.

Le boat offers eight different Thames River itineraries for a once in-a-life-time experience wherein you can wake up every morning in a different quaint English village and enjoy views of the castles and rolling green countryside from your upper deck.

While the town of Windsor is guaranteed to be overflowing with royal watchers leading up to the wedding, you can avoid the crowds and take in the festivities while sipping a cup of tea on the deck of your very own private luxury cruiser come wedding day.

I reach for the VHF to radio the lockmaster in charge of Erie Canal’s Lock 32 dead ahead. Our boat spins gently in the current like a maple key in a mud puddle.

“This is Onondaga,” I say. “Headed westbound and requesting passage.”
