Yacht Chartering now available in Cuba via Moorings

Yacht charter company, The Moorings, has announced new crewed cruising catamaran charters coming to Cuba in 2017. This charter will give guests an all-inclusive travel experience complete with a dedicated staff, including an expert captain and gourmet chef on board, and a personal driver and local tour guide onshore.

The Moorings 7-day Cuba Crewed yacht vacations will be based out of two marinas – Marina Hemingway in Havana and Marina Gaviota in Varadero – with the Moorings 5800 sail catamaran providing five en-suite guest cabins.

The whole adventure is designed to be educational in nature to allow for participants from the USA, but Canadians will get a double duty experience enjoying some great sailing and enjoying an authentic Cuban cultural experience. Each day, guests will disembark and be met by their dedicated tour guide and driver on shore.

Charterers can enjoy the best that Cuba has to offer in the company of their friends and family, with the added benefit of a local expert leading the way. Some of the notable attractions include visits to the famous Hemingway House, Tobacco Farm Benito, the Callejon de las Tradiciones, the Hotel Nacional, and the historically-significant Revolution Square.

Several major U.S. airlines now flights to Havana and Varadero and Canadian carriers including AC, Sunwing, Transat and Westjet serve Cuba extensively from many Canadian gateways. The Erie Canal – An Extraordinary Waterway

As I shift our chartered canal boat into neutral, I’m soothed by the soundtrack of bird calls, the occasional plaintive horn of a distant train and the hum of our engine.

I reach for the VHF to radio the lockmaster in charge of Erie Canal’s Lock 32 dead ahead. Our boat spins gently in the current like a maple key in a mud puddle.

“This is Onondaga,” I say. “Headed westbound and requesting passage.”
