Steadfast in upholding the superior quality its customers have grown to expect, the company will invest over $50 million this coming year on new sail and power yachts destined for vacation destinations worldwide. Building on a $40 million investment from the previous year, The Moorings will work in close partnership with world-renowned yacht builders Beneteau and Robertson & Caine to evolve its fleet of custom-designed sailing monohulls and catamarans, as well as its innovative fleet of power catamarans.

The investment continues a long heritage of leadership in the yacht charter industry, which began over 45 years ago. As a family-owned business in the British Virgin Islands under founders Charlie and Ginny Cary, The Moorings pioneered the charter vacation experience by caring for each customer like family and in turn, earning their longstanding loyalty. Over four decades later, this focus lives on, with every new yacht design inspired by customer feedback.

For instance, launching this fall, The Moorings’ new 433 power catamaran includes a spacious master suite that fills the entire length of the starboard hull, a huge fly bridge and a convertible saloon that opens on to the cockpit and foredeck, creating a truly social environment for families and friends. The forward-facing lounge and oversized windows provide remarkable views. Additionally, with twin 260hp Yanmar engines, the 433PC offers impressive speeds and fuel-sipping efficiency, giving charterers the independence to explore cruising ground highlights farther and faster.

Over the past year, The Moorings has also introduced the versatile 45.3 and 51.5 monohulls, the enormously successful 514 power catamaran and the state-of-the-art 4000 sail catamaran to its global fleet. The company has also expanded the presence of its flagship Moorings 5800 sail catamaran, available to bareboat with six double cabins, or with a luxurious all-inclusive package featuring a crew of three and all gourmet meals, beverages and water sports equipment included. With these new vessels, The Moorings offers a yacht selection for all tastes in more than 20 destinations worldwide.

Susan Hood Trophy Race Participants Battled Mother Nature

The Susan Hood Race kicked off last Friday night with quite a bang, if you count the sound of signs being blown over by the wind. The racers were greeted with heavy winds and rain and with the potential for more storms over the next 24 hours. The Susan Hood is an annual race held by the Port Credit Yacht Club that covers 73 nautical miles of the western part of Lake Ontario. The race begins at 8pm and boats race from Port Credit to Burlington, then across the lake to Niagara and then back to the starting point. Although usually extremely cold, this race is considered an essential practice for anyone considering entering in the Lake Ontario 300 Race. The Lake Ontario 300, circumnavigates 300 nautical miles and it is considered one of the premiere races on the Lakes. This event will be held on July 13th also hosted by the Port Credit Yacht Club.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
