Companies Honoured for Best Displays at Newport Boat Show

Newport Exhibition Group, owners and producers of the Newport International Boat Show, announced today the results of this year’s Edson Awards for Excellence in Portraying Company Image. Presented by Will Keene, president of Edson International, and given to companies whose display and employees exemplify pride and professionalism, the awards were presented to four category winners who each received a $1,000 credit toward their 2015 show contract costs from the show producers. Edson also awarded a Star of the Show plaque to an overall winner.

The 2014 awardees are:
Best In-Water Powerboat Display: The Hinckley Company/Hunt Yachts
Best In-Water Sailboat Display:  Beneteau America/Jeanneau America
Best Land Display: Zim Sailing
Best Booth Display: Dubarry of Ireland (USA)
Best Overall Display and Edson Star of the Show award: The Hinckley Company/Hunt Yachts

“Overall, the exhibitors at the 44th annual Newport International Boat Show delivered a high level of professionalism – it was very difficult to chose the best displays,” said Will Keane. “Exhibits were judged by an independent group and assessed on cohesive branding throughout; eye-catching and inviting set-up; well-dressed, friendly, knowledgeable staff; brochures and business cards readily available; a neat and clean environment; and no smart phone use in their booths.”

The Newport International Boat Show opened on Thursday, September 11th and continued through Sunday, September 14th, 2014 along the Newport Waterfront on America’s Cup Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island. One of the largest in-water boat shows in the country, this year’s event had over 750 exhibitors from around the world with an exceptional assortment of boats of every type and style from 15 to 110 feet, and a variety of accessories, equipment, electronics, gear and services for boaters.

The Best of Two Worlds

One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
