Whaleguide App : A New Dimension For Whale And Dolphin Guides

Are you interested in whales and dolphins? Do you want to know which species you may be able to see at your next holiday destination or which whale or dolphin you have observed?

The new Whaleguide App gives extensive answers to these questions. The content and techniques are an absolute novelty. This app, which is available for iPad or iPhone and for Android tablets or phones, contains comprehensive information just like a good book, but has much more to offer: for example more than 50 short video clips, where one can observe the behaviour of whales and dolphins up close and listen to their voices. In addition there are more than 450 spectacular photos. The combination of photos and videos make Whalguide a unique multimedia experience.

WhaleGuide 3This “giants app” has been developed by Ralf Kiefner, wildlife photographer, filmmaker and author of the book “Whales and Dolphins, Cetacean World Guide”, that has been published in five languages and is generally considered a “must have” for whale watchers.

Sixty-seven species of whales and dolphins are explained in the app in detail in a way which is interesting and easy to understand. For each species the user will find a comparative size drawing, a quick ID, key numbers, a complete description, information about behaviour, diving behaviour, diet, reproduction, possible hot spots, interesting (and some funny) facts, popular names, taxonomy, the scientific name and distribution.

WhaleGuide Android 1Whaleguide also is very helpful when watching whales or dolphins. On the basis of a few details that are visible from the boat or from land and using the GPS function, the Finder enables the user to easily distinguish among the sixty-seven species the one just spotted. This app can also be used offline, for example on a boat or in remote regions (except for GPS based functions).

Alternatively, when planning the next trip, one can find out in advance which whales and dolphins may be seen at your destination. Photographers who want to take photos or video get support from this app. The important information about the behaviour of these magnificent creatures helps to get better pictures.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
