QuenchSea Desalinator

QuenchSea

A successful crowd sourcing effort on Indiegogo claims it is “The World’s Only Low Cost Portable Seawater Desalination Device”.  We think this is a great product to keep your eye on if you are a saltwater boater.

QuenchSea is an innovative technology that combines a hydraulic system, triple pre-filtration and a small reverse osmosis membrane to desalinate seawater into freshwater using manual human power. At sea or on the coast, convert seawater into clean fresh drinking water instantly. In ideal conditions, QuenchSea can produce 3 litres of water within one hour. It is the size of a conventional iron and weighs less than a kilogram.

Hydraulic System

A unique hydraulic system builds pressure to 60 bars (6000 kPa) to remove salts from seawater through a reverse osmosis membrane.

Triple Filtration

Quench Sea has a in-built ultrafiltration and microfiltration system to remove suspended solids, pathogens, parasites, and microplastics. The first sediment filtration removes the most damaging sediments and particles. Seawater is then forced under pressure through a 0.01 micron membrane removing all containments before the final reverse osmosis process.

Activated Carbon Filter

Through the process of adsorption, an advanced activated carbon filter ensures that the taste of water is palatable and the odour of water is pleasant.

Reverse Osmosis

Quench Sea uses an advanced and state-of-the-art industrial Reverse Osmosis membrane. Seawater is demineralized under 55 bar to 60 bar (6000kPa) pressure through a semipermeable membrane. RO membranes contain small pores small enough to pass pure water through while rejecting larger molecules such as dissolved salts (ions) and other impurities such as pathogens to produce highly purified water for drinking.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
