Lake Ontario Offshore Racing (LOOR) Launches Ambassador Program
The kick-off meeting for the newly formed LOOR Ambassadors group was held on Monday, October 17th with representatives from 21 yacht clubs around Lake Ontario sharing ideas on how to support and promote offshore racing.

Reminder from the Educational Department
All multiple choice exams in CPS-ECP are now open book exams with a 1 hour 30 minutes time limit. Marking keys are normally distributed with the exams when the Squadron Educational Officer orders the course material.

Safety and Flare Return Days 2017
For 2017 there were a total of 31 events planned, 2 were cancelled and three more added for a total of 32 events. All of the events but one have taken place. The earliest was on April 1st and the last on October 14th.

George Cuthbertson
George H. Cuthbertson, aged 88, passed away on October 3rd at his home in Toronto, Canada. Cuthbertson was one of the original four founders of C&C Yachts, a Canadian yacht builder that dominated North American sailing in the 1970s and early ‘80s.

I guess it’s true what they say. The only thing that stays the same is change. Regattas are not what they used to be. Gone are they days of 20 boat rafts, tents filing the yacht club grounds and beer trucks lining the streets to serve hundreds of sailors.
