Clagett Boat Grant goes to Canadians
The Clagett Boat Grant Program is now in its fourth year and has announced that there will be one boat going to the U.S. and two boats going to Canada. One of the Canadian boats has been reassigned from the Challenged Sailing San Diego program to a sailor in Quebec.

Eight Bells: Performance hardware pioneer, Olaf Harken
Olaf Harken, 80, passed away Monday, October 21 after a weekend of accolades and family. Harken was presented with a lifetime achievement award at the Pewaukee Yacht Club Awards Dinner on Saturday. He was a seasoned Scow sailor and businessman who enjoyed sharing his passion for sailing.

Back in Black (#13) sailed by a three-man crew of Reto Corfu, Phil Cragg, and special guest star Yury Levkovskiy (who raced most of this season on Electra) managed the win, on a weekend filled with rain, wind shifts, puffs, and wind-shadow dodging.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Carbon monoxide (CO) can come from anything that burns a carbon-based fuel (gasoline, propane, charcoal, oil, etc.). It can be created by engines, gas generators, cooking ranges, heaters, etc. CO acts a lot like air. It doesn’t rise or fall, but spreads evenly throughout an enclosed space and is very toxic.

Shellbacks re-convene for season
Officially started in February 1934, The Shellback Club is celebrating its 86th year. To be “Shellback” today only requires attending a lunch meeting and joining everyone in singing a sea shanty. The location, as in past years, is the RCYC at 141 St George Street at Prince Arthur in Toronto (west exit of the St. George TTC station).

Operation Life Jacket – Thornbury Ontario
