The 30th year of the York Cup match race run at Toronto’s RCYC took place July 13-14, 2019 . This event, this year sailed in Sonars, is one of the season’s top match racing event.

Great Lakes Laser Regatta
The Great Lakes Laser Regatta is now a wrap! Congratulations to the 73 participants, making this the largest Master’s Laser event in Canada this year. The event was held in the town of Thornbury west of Collingwood on South Georgian Bay, from July 12 through July 14. The races were held off shore from Thornbury harbour.

Maiden Now in Theatres
The crew is all women led by Tracy Edwards, Dawn Riley and their wonderful crew. In a refurbished boat they won two of the toughest legs sponsored by King Hussein of Jordan. They sailed into Fort Lauderdale dressed in their swimsuits proud to be women. The crowd was overwhelming.

Jeanneau Media Event in Florida – New Models
Our Canadian Yachting test team, John Armstong and Andy Adams, were at a Jeanneau media event called “Throttle Down” in St. Petersburg, Florida. The media event was held to highlight the Jeanneau Power Boat Line with the emphasis on their outboard models.

Toronto’s Outer Harbour Marina Becomes the First in Canada to Install Seabins
On June 25th, Outer Harbour Marina became the first commercial installation of Seabins in Canada. They had just installed the first two Seabins in the water and we got to see them running, drawing in water and capturing trash down to very small particles of plastic and other materials.

39th Annual M242 North American Championship
Held at Orcas Island Yacht Club on June 29 and 30, the 2019 M242 North American Championship had its biggest turnout at 27 boats since 2012, and Mike George with is team of Alan Field, Jennifer Hylander, and Jennifer Arrington, all from Los Angeles, won it for the 4th time.

Two Canadian teams define what it’s like to participate in the Race to Alaska
Canadian Yachting OnBoard has been following team Pitoraq since they first talked about what it would take to do the race to Alaska. They completed the race in just under eight days. Skipper Graham Heath wanted to thank Canadian Energy in Esquimalt and the Canadian Forces Sailing Association for their support.

Canada at the 2019 Pan American Games
Sail Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have announced the 14 sailors nominated to represent Team Canada at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. Sailing competitions at the Pan Am Games are scheduled to be held at the Yacht Club Peruano in the city of Paracas from August 3 to 10.

Elite Fleet Shaping Up for the Marblehead to Halifax
