Tug news: Theodore Tugboat heads Halifax to Port Dover
According to the Nova Scotia Tourism website, Theodore Tugboat began his travels in 1989, created by Cochran Entertainment, with master model maker Fred Allen, as a children’s television series inspired by the Halifax Waterfront and the stories Andrew Cochran would tell his son at bedtime. The CBC television program Theodore Tugboat ran from 1993 to 2001.

Fire at Krates Marina Destroys Several Boats
On Monday, March 29th, fire broke out in a group of power boats stored on the hard and still under shrink wrap. Black smoke was visible for miles at the height of the blaze. Boating Industry Canada News Week Digest spoke to David Kent, manager at the Pride Marine location at Krates Marina. The boats were their customer’s vessels.

Spring forward…please
I’m trying to temper it but Spring Fever has grabbed me by the deck shoes and got me half way out the door to the boat. This longing has been going on for a bit but came to a head last weekend when I went down ostensibly to check my tarp but then stood on the dock watching the ice melt in the sun. There’s no denying it; spring is springing.

When Beneteau opened its plant in Marion, SC in 1986, the writing was on the wall for the large Canadian sailboat manufacturers, C&C, CS and Hinterhoeller. Last week, Nova Scotia Premier Iain Rankin and Dr. Robert Strang, Chief Medical Officer of Health, announced tighter COVID-19 restrictions in the province. As of Saturday, March 6, special events, including trade shows, are not permitted until at least the end of March, and residents are being asked to avoid non-essential travel in and out of HRM during this period.
