Sneak Preview: Bavaria C45 – comfort and speed

With their new midsized model, Bavaria has zeroed in on a versatile design that ticks all the boxes: family friendly, flexible, fast and fun. Alliteration aside, you can hardly ask much more of one boat than that it satisfies on so many levels. The new Bavaria C45 is an all-around boat that can hold her own in club races but will be a family favorite in the anchorage on the weekends.

The C45’s slippery hull means she’ll be a contender in club competitions but when the racing is done and it’s time for the sun worshippers to come out, the lounging cockpit turns into twin sunbeds. There are two additional double sunpad locations – one on the bow and one under the boom so guests can spread out. On a summer cruise, kids can play on the bow while adults hold a happy hour in the cockpit and everyone has a place to escape to.

Bavaria C45 InteriorBavaria aimed at flexibility with this model so the C45 is offered with three levels of equipment and layout options called Holiday, Style and Ambition.

Moving in this new direction, Bavaria clearly targeted developing an all around design that can serve multiple uses. For those who think that all things are built for either comfort or speed – it’s time to think again.

Significant changes have been made to the 91st 2015 Bell’s Beer Bayview Mackinac Race in order to enhance the race experience, and by the looks of it, sailors are embracing them wholeheartedly.  With registration having opened a month earlier than last year, more than 85 teams have entered. The event, which last year accommodated 226 boats, starts Saturday, July 18 on Lake Huron and is hosted by Bayview Yacht Club, which notably celebrates its 100th Anniversary this year.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
