SailGP: NorthStar Has Some Moments at Bermuda Sail Grand Prix

May 14, 2026

The Canadian team demonstrated progression on Saturday finishing 2nd, 4th, 5th and 8th, yet struggled a bit on Super Sunday with 12th, 12th and 4th place finishes. Improved starts helped the the team remain in contention across the fleet during seven races over the weekend.

“I’d summarize the day as frustrating. If that top mark had gone differently, we’d have been high-fiving, with a position in the final three. But it wasn’t to be,” said Driver Giles Scott.

“We are not sailing the boat as well as some of the other teams, especially in the marginal foiling conditions. I think if you look at our performance generally, we sailed the boat quite well and confidently when the breeze is up. I think that is where we are strong as a team. But it’s no coincidence that on a day like today, we’ve got to pay some serious attention.”

Still, fans can feel that just maybe there are some bright days ahead for Northstar. The NorthStar SailGP Team continues to focus on development, both on and off the water, as attention now turns to the next event on the Rolex SailGP Championship calendar which will be in New York on 30-31 May, before the Canada Sail Grand Prix on 20-21 June in Halifax!  Wouldn’t that be a great time to shed the slows and grab some podium

That would be a great time to shed the slows and podium.

The Best of Two Worlds

One could be forgiven for assuming this valley was purpose-built for nautical fun, with a few delightful perks thrown in to make the area entirely irresistible (wine-tasting, anyone?).
