Visiting France is currently possible for Canadians. As of July 1, visitors from “safe” countries such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand will be permitted entry to the EU. The announcement came as the EU bloc moved to reopen its borders in an attempt to save the European tourism season, while at the same time minimising the lingering threat of COVID-19, according to The Guardian. Other countries whose citizens the EU has decided should be allowed to enter include Algeria, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, Rwanda, Serbia, South Korea, Tunisia, and Uruguay.

Cannes PosterLast month, organizers of one of Europe’s largest in-water shows, the Cannes Yachting Festival, announced that they are moving forward with the event slated for Sept. 8-13. It was confirmed after the French government said that major events can be held again after Sept. 1.

Founded in 1977, the Cannes Boat Show takes place in the beautiful French city every September and showcases almost 600 boats, including motor yachts, superyachts, catamarans, tenders and sailing yachts.

The in-water show in the Bay of Cannes takes place in two of the city’s ports, the Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto.

There will be significant safety and social distance measures in place — following the General Health and Safety Plan recommended by France’s federation of the events industry — that was presented to the French government to ensure full compliance of steps taken to restrict the spread of covid-19.

Cannes 2014 HeliOrganizers said that “several different scenarios are in place for adapting the configuration of the event,” depending on what social distancing measures will be in place at the time of the event. They are working with Cannes officials to provide additional space, if needed.
