Legend 17 XT – Perfect Partner for Summer Fun!

By Andy Adams

Fish, ski, tube or just cruise and relax! The Legend XT line developed from consumer demand for fish and ski features and performance that have evolved into four different top-selling Legend XT models; the 17, 18, 19 and 20. With the 19’ and 20’ to be released in their 2026 line-up. All feature a proven 17-degree V-hull design finished with an upgraded interior that includes what Legend calls a “frunk”. This is like a front trunk in the adaptable forward casting platform. Legend has moved the live well to the stern leaving the bow as a large casting deck with storage underneath that can also be a bowrider area. A moveable partition opens up a centre walkway, or leave it all decked over. For those who value more luxurious accommodation, order the XT Sport Package finishing the big casting platform with removable seat cushions and back rests. The underfloor space is pre-wired for an optional 12 or 24-volt trolling motor and separate battery.

In the interior is Legend’s EZ-Flip 50/50 Extenda-Deck Converta-Bench. The two-section bench seat can flip one, or both of the seat sections down to make another huge casting platform. Stand the seats up and you have a full width bench seat protected by the high, curved-glass windshield. There is a live well with a removable bait bucket to port and a starboard-side battery compartment for one or two batteries. Set one side of the seat up and the other one down to facilitate swimmers and skiers using the swim platform and boarding ladder. The forward-facing sport top gives sun and weather protection.

The 17 XT includes a pair of removable, ErgoMax 360-degree swivel seats with Legend’s “four-on-the-floor” feature of four different seat mounting locations. The helm seat is especially comfortable and adjusts to accommodate various drivers.

The helm is well equipped with a standard 7-inch Humminbird Helix GPS screen, separate tachometer, fuel gauge and Bluetooth stereo. The Humminbird features GPS speed, voltmeter, and the cartography and fishing features buyers are looking for. LED courtesy floor lights and navigation lights are standard.

More standard features include the new Railmountz gunnel system to mount rod holders and other accessories. This also enables you to install the Bimini top in one of two different positions and slide it forward or back to best accommodate fishing and onboard activities. You can easily remove the top for trailering.

Add the XT Sport Package and you get a removable aluminum ski tow pylon, the Nightview Safety Mirrors (side mirrors for safety) and each is also an LED searchlight. Ideal for towing tubes and boards, these unique mirrored sidelights are easily adjustable for docking or other nighttime activities. The Sport package adds only $2,499 to any of the Legend XT models.

Another great feature is the fully painted hull in Sapphire blue and white, or Chilli Pepper red with black to match the colours of the Mercury motor.

More great features include the curved glass windshield that offers excellent visibility and protection. Side cleats can be easily re-positioned and they fold to prevent tripping and to accommodate the towing cover. You also get a tilt steering wheel and lockable under-floor locker for up to six fishing rods plus lockable rod holders in the gunwale sides. Spotted! Canadian Boating in Antigua & Barbuda

By Mathew Channer

I wore my Canadian Boating cap everywhere I went in Antigua, for the sun, not for the shout-outs. But I sure received a lot of them.

Antigua Sailing Week is an international regatta that draws sailors of every level and spectators from all over the world. Yet I couldn’t walk across a room without being hailed by a Canadian who was as excited to see my cap as they were to see the racing. I met many who were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th visit.
