Sea Ray Announces New Jet Boat Jan 10

In June of 2012, Sea Ray announced that it would launch a new sport boat series featuring the very latest in water-jet propulsion technology.

AT the Atlanta boat show on January 10th, 2013, Sea Ray will officially introduce their new 21-foot sport boat with plans to follow up shortly with a 24-foot model.

An earlier announcement stated that Sea Ray has an exclusive partnership with renowned German engine manufacturer Weber Motor to build the four-stroke engines and jet propulsion that will power the all-new Sea Ray models.

Weber Motor, an award-winning, independent company based in Markdorf, Germany, has earned accolades for its marine, off-road and on-road engines. CEO Christian Weber described the benefits of joining forces with Sea Ray, “This exclusive partnership will showcase the finest in German engineering and American ingenuity.”

Of particular note, these Weber jet-powered sport boats will be the first and only models available to meet California 4-Star super-ultra-low emission levels, setting a new industry benchmark.

Ladysmith Maritime Centre Opens

With congratulatory speeches, a navy brass band and a First Nations welcoming circle, the Ladysmith Maritime Society recently opened its new dockside Reception Centre. After a number of speakers advanced the welcoming nature of the facility for visiting boaters, local mariners and First Nations neighbours, the proposal to rename it officially a Welcoming Centre was appreciated the large and enthusiastic crowd. 2013 New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup Presented by Rolex

Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club has confirmed that it will compete in the 2013 New York Yacht Club.  Invitational Cup presented by Rolex, bringing the competition to 20 international teams.  Founded in 1867, the club was named to commemorate The Duke of Edinburgh’s visit in January of 1868, which he did in command of the HMS Galatea.  RPAYC will travel from Newport, Australia, to Newport, Rhode Island, to execute their first-ever assault on the Corinthian championship that will be held from September 7-14, 2013, on Narragansett Bay and Rhode Island Sound.

CPS Boating Course On-line

Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS) has announced the introduction of a fully on-line self-study version of the Boating Basics course. Formerly called Boat-Pro if taught in classroom, this course prepares candidates to write an exam qualifying them for the Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card (PCOC). This certificate is mandated by Transport Canada and is the minimum certification needed to operate any powered vessel of any length in Canadian waters.

Candidates who complete the Boating basics course are allowed to write the on-line examination that leads to the PCOC certification.

Bayfield Marine Turns 40 with Big April Events

Ron and Pat Reder started out in October 1984 across the road from where they are right now on the Bayfield River in Bayfield ON. The store front was about 10 x 20 and the rest of that side of the building was a stock room, wood finishing room, then behind that was more back stock and the lunchroom. Expanding every few years for the store front, then moving over to this new building five years ago, this year with Adam, Shelley, and Holly are carrying on the business.
