Spring Thaw Luncheon Blooms Again
The Spring Thaw Luncheon had been a part of the season for GTA boaters for many years until the passing of its founder and key organizer, Marjorie Patterson. The Luncheon’s goal was to celebrate boating and importantly as a fundraiser for boating causes including Toronto Brigantine and OSA’s BOOM Program.

LYRA Returns to KYC for the Tenth Time

Douglas Top Canadian at 2023 ILCA 6 & 7 Senior European Championships
Sarah Douglas from Toronto was the top Canadian sailor at the 2023 ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Senior European Championships, which ended Friday in Andora, Italy, as she came up with a 21st-place finish.

weCANfoil, Powered by the Canada SailGP Receives the Prestigious Award in Milan
The Canada SailGP Team launched weCANfoil in spring 2022, together with the support of yacht clubs, sailing schools and numerous volunteers across the country. Over 500 youth had the opportunity to try foiling on WASZPs and NSP wing foil boards.

Canada on the Podium at the 43rd St. Maarten Heineken
Canada was well represented this year at the 43rd St. Maarten Heineken Regatta with a total of seven Canadian boats in the fleet of over 100. Serious racing and serious fun were had by all, and Canada snagged some podium finishes after the four days on the water – both sport boats and charter boats.

Canada Qualifies Two Additional Spots in Sailing for Santiago 2023 PanAm Games
Canada has qualified two additional spots for the sailing events at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games to be held October 20 to November 5 in Santiago, Chile, following the reallocation of spots in 49erFX and Nacra 17 classes by PanAm Sailing.

Glory Days of ‘76
The summer of 1976 was an exciting time in Canada. Montreal hosted the Olympics and built a spectacular stadium for the opening ceremonies and track and field. Also built were a cycling velodrome beside the stadium, a rowing basin at Notre Dame Island and a sailing harbour in Kingston (Portsmouth Olympic Harbour).

Paralympic Sailing Excluded from 2028 Games
Many Canadians are active in Paralympic sailing including National Sailing Team member, Paralympian Bruce Millar who finished 10th in the 2.4m class at the Rio 2016 Games and first at the 2021 Canadian 2.4mR Championships in Victoria.
