New Floater Coat from Mustang

alt

Mustang Survival, the well-known Vancouver-area manufacturer of quality safety gear, has introduced a new generation of its familiar floater coat. The Catalyst model is the latest combination of a waterproof yet breathable exterior with a segmented foam middle layer that provides flotation and an inner layer that allows breathability and aids in wicking moisture away from the wearer.

Mustang calls this new design the M-Tech Comfort System and it makes for a more comfortable coat that still provides warmth and protection from rain, as well as flotation in an emergency. The Catalyst jacket is available in red, blue, olive and orange/black, and retails at about $560. Look for it at major boat shows in early 2012. www.mustangsurvival.com.

The trim team smoothly sheets on the headsail and a competitor vessel shoots past our stern, feet away, as our Solana 45 beats eastward along Antigua’s south coast.
