New Products: On The Boat, It’s A Subwoofer; Off, A Bluetooth Speaker

JBL Speakers

Jan 14, 2021

Perhaps the ultimate audio solution for boat owners, the JBL by Harman BassPro Go from Prospec Electronics combines convenience, performance and portability in a single speaker. On the vessel, it’s a subwoofer that delivers deep, powerful bass. When it’s time to hit the beach, it disconnects and becomes a standalone streaming Bluetooth® speaker perfect for parties. It’s so unique, it won a 2021 C.E.S. Innovation Award.

Onboard, the BassPro Go functions as a small box subwoofer. Offering 100Wrms, 200W peak power with a frequency response of 40Hz to 20kHz @ -3dB, it packs a serious punch. Integrated audio settings allow the device to be tuned for maximum performance.

The BassPro Go has a built-in NiMH battery that charges in its quick-disconnect mounting bracket. Once removed, Bluetooth automatically turns on and offers eight hours of playback at up to a 125′ outdoor range.

With the JBL Connect mobile app for Android and iOS, it connects up to three devices for social mode music sharing. For an even more immersive experience, users can wirelessly link two BassPro Go speakers for simultaneous audio playback. A built-in 2.0 USB port can power a mobile device so the tunes don’t end before the party does.

With all its fun and unique features, the BassPro Go from Prospec Electronics is still a premium audio component. It has a 5-1/2″ activesubwoofer, two 2″ speakers and two 5-1/2″ passive radiator speakers deliversing audiophile-level sound definition, even at extreme volume levels.

Thoroughly tested, the JBL by Harman BassPro Go is built for rugged outdoor use. IPx5 rated for use in a marine environment, it resists water, chemicals, dirt and grime. It measures 15-7/8″ L x 8-3/16″ W x 7-13/16″ H and weighs 11.6 lbs.

Spotted! Canadian Boating in Antigua & Barbuda

Antigua Sailing Week is an international regatta that draws sailors of every level and spectators from all over the world. Yet I couldn’t walk across a room without being hailed by a Canadian who was as excited to see my cap as they were to see the racing. I met many who were on their 3rd, 4th and 5th visit.
