Canada at the 2019 Pan American Games
Sail Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have announced the 14 sailors nominated to represent Team Canada at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. Sailing competitions at the Pan Am Games are scheduled to be held at the Yacht Club Peruano in the city of Paracas from August 3 to 10.

Elite Fleet Shaping Up for the Marblehead to Halifax
An international fleet of more than 70 boats will be at the starting line July 7 to begin the 38th Marblehead-to-Halifax Ocean Race. The 363-mile race, which dates to 1905, is billed as the “granddaddy of ocean races.”

Adventurous 76-year-old grandmother attempting unaided global circumnavigation moors in Timaru
Timaru is a small town about 150 km south of Christchurch NZ, and Jeanne Socrates has anchored inside the breakwater to try to repair some damage caused by a knockdown in the Tasman Sea a couple of weeks ago. She is accepting no outside assistance so when she leaves, her attempt will still be valid.

Eight Bells: Ian Gow
Ian started his sailing life around 1972 when, as a young police officer, he was assigned to 55 Division and Patrick Lymburner was his training officer. Pat had just purchased a Thunderbird and wanted to get the mast up ASAP. They were working night shift and Ian offered to help. Then, of course, they had to take her for a sail.

Assiginack reinstates agreement with S.S. Norisle Steamship Society
MANITOWANING—Following an in camera session of Assiginack council last month, council passed a resolution to reauthorize an agreement between the S.S Norisle Steamship Society and the municipality with the hopes of aiding them in their quest to see the aging vessel refitted at drydock to, hopefully, sail again.
