This is a renewal of an event that brought the sailing community together for 25 years until 2011. We know that this community will appreciate our efforts to bring it back, to share the camaraderie, to look forward to being on the water this season.

This is also a fundraising event with exclusive sponsorship opportunities.

Broad Reach is a charity engaging GTA’s disadvantaged youth in sailing to develop knowledge, skills, values and belonging. Youth become more confident, resilient, courageous, caring and engaged. They learn, have fun and contribute in the community more fully.

Broad Reach is aiming to expand the scope of our programs by partnering with Toronto Brigantine graduating youth from our boats aboard the TS Playfair. To succeed we do rely on the Generosity of Sailors and like-minded others, who have sustained our programs since 1998.

Youth We Support

We support youth aged 12-24-29* for whom, because of their circumstances, the promise of a better future is just not a reality. We provide youth with the tools to engage in their communities and to share their trans-formative experience of sailing with their peers.

Youth Take Initiative

Some youth take on an active role in our Broad Reach community by becoming peer mentors and volunteers.

Youth Programs

Youth SailingFunds raised are invested in programs engaging more than 375 youth from across the GTA annually providing them with an exceptional advantage to learn, grow potential, engage and contribute.

From the President: A shared responsibility and a shared benefit

“Broad Reach offers potential sponsors three-tier options to promote your corporation. These options offer valuable contact opportunities for those interested in creating a distinctive presence at the Spring Thaw event. This is an exceptional opportunity to align your brand with the youth who deserve your support and with the sailing community of people who navigate through life with skill and confidence.”

Throw away the box, this is some fresh thinking

Seemingly part sailboat and part spaceship, the new Jeanneau Yachts 55 just busted through the boundaries of traditional yacht design. I couldn’t take my eyes off the bubble hardtop that met me at the dock and I stepped aboard with trepidation. A few hours later, I was planning how to spend my not-yet-won lottery winnings.

Paving the Way to Cleaner Boating – How a Commitment to Reducing our Environmental Impact is Inspiring Cleaner Boating in Ontario

By Dave Rozycki

Over the past seven decades, Ontario’s marina industry has developed alongside some of Canada’s largest freshwater lakes. Boaters have been able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and create lasting memories on the water, with certain marinas dating back to the 1960s. As we reflect on this rich history, we can begin to see trends in how our footprint may have had an effect on the environment, in not-so-positive ways. However, by embracing innovative solutions and adopting sustainable practices, both marinas and boaters hold the key to preserving and enhancing the quality of our lakes and marine life for generations to come.
