#GoSailing Week is June 20-26

Kingston, June 15, 2022 – Canadian sailing enthusiasts from across the country are invited to celebrate their favourite sport during the 2022 edition of National #GoSailing Week being held June 20-26.

Throughout the week, Sail Canada will be highlighting and showcasing the Canadian sailing community from coast to coast to coast as its members enjoy activities on waterfronts in many different ways.

Cheer for the Canadian team and register your sailing hours!

Sailors will be invited to cheer for their 28 Canadian athletes who will be in Germany to take part in the Kiel Week competition June 22-26.

Go SailingTo cheer them on, Canadian sailors will be invited to register online and log their sailing hours during Canada’s #GoSailing Week. The objective will be to collectively reach 648 hours on the water to match the 6,000 km distance that separates Kingston, ON, from Kiel while sailing at an average speed of 5 knots. Sailors will be invited to record their time online at www.sailing.ca/gosailing/.

As well, all Canadian sailors will be encouraged to post pictures of them and their family and friends while they are out on the water sailing, while also using the #gosailing hashtag and tagging Sail Canada (@sailcanada).

Among all participants who register their sailing hours, Sail Canada will draw two winners of a $100 voucher each from Fogh Marine/Fogh Boat Supplies.

Sailing and sports organizations across the country are also invited to introduce kids to the sport of sailing not only on water, but also on dryland through different cool activities for kids, including drawing a sailboat. Resources are available on Sail Canada’s Sailing for Kids page on our website at https://www.sailing.ca/sailing-for-kids/.

Among all those who participate in the drawing contest, one lucky winner will receive an autographed picture of his/her favourite Tokyo 2020 Olympian. Download a model of the sailboat to draw at https://www.sailing.ca/sailing-for-kids/ and, once your drawing is finished, send it to communications@sailing.ca!

Canadian families who have never tried sailing will be invited to experience it for the first time through different activities organized across Canada.
