The fog appears to be lifting

With cautious optimism, fingers crossed and tossing a lucky penny into the sea, it looks like there is normality on the horizon. Masks are no longer mandatory in most settings; borders are opening with minimal fuss and any day now people will begin talking to each other.

This has been a very long voyage. Even though we have largely had the luxury of being on boats there were forever restrictions – ports closed to visitors, only family on board, bubbles on the dock, masks in the snack bar.  It seemed like it might never end and even now there are some who feel it may return.  But at least now and hopefully forever, the boating season is getting underway with a minimum of distancing, masking, hand washing and hand wringing. Normal?  I guess we will see but the report we have received indicate everyone is feeling relieved and reasonably optimistic.

Visiting a normal harbour – remember that?

The calendar is getting filled with regattas, boat shows and other events (Click here to see!) Each day brings news of more events as planning gets back to more normal after two years’ worth of jettisoned dates and cancellations. US boats will soon be visiting us. The BVI Spring Regatta is on. The Bay Bridge Show and others are on. Charters are firing up. Icebreaker regattas are imminent.

Not only that but spring arrived on Sunday. Woohoo!

Just when you thought you might never see the Galley Guys again, there they were waving from the flying bridge of a Le Boat Horizon 3 gliding down the Trent Severn Waterway (TSW) in the sun. Glorious!

In the past the Galley Guys have travelled far and wide to great locations to explore the good life on a boat. However, this year we stayed in our own backyard for a real treat; cruising The Trent Severn Waterway.
