Sail Canada announces Michael Milner as Sail Canada’s new High Performance director

Sail Canada will officially announce Michael Milner as Sail Canada’s new High Performance director at a press conference at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club City Club on St George Street on Friday May 4th.
The Canadian native brings extensive and broad-based expertise to this position. With a solid and wide-ranging background in sailing, Milner will lever his skills as a competitive sailor, coach, race officer/regatta manager, administrator and overall promoter of the sport of sailing to build the foundation for a new national system for the development of sailing athletes across Canada.
Milner’s broad-based skill set made him the perfect addition to the Sail Canada team and his intimate knowledge of the Canadian sailing community will ensure moving forward that the collaboration across Canada will allow us to accelerate Podium performances internationally.
The key deliverables for Sail Canada will be a sustainable, collaborative and performance measurement-based approach in all it does as it addresses the development of the team moving forward while identifying and assisting in the development of athletes and increasing participation at all levels of the sport.
Milner has competed internationally for Canada in both the Finn and Star class and has first hand expertise across all aspects of the sport and most recently lead the Royal Canadian Yacht club’s sailing programs regarded as one of the most successful integrated club-based sailing programs anywhere.
Competitor, athlete, manger, coach, mentor and manager summarize the talents Milner will draw on moving forward.
