Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association: Certified Trades Identification

Rosborough

 Feb 22, 2018

The folks at the Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association (NSBA) have come up with a handy way for boaters to recognise if companies have a Nova Scotia Certified Boatbuilder or Marine Service Technician on their staff. These new symbols will be displayed on the company’s web site, the NSBA web page or on their marketing material.

The current list of companies:

Tern BoatworksA.F. Theriault & Son Ltd.; All Points Boat Services; Aylward Fibreglass; Big Pond Boat Shop; Bras d’Or Boatworks; Canadian Maritime Engineering; Cheticamp Boatbuilders Ltd.; Covey Island Boatworks; Dagley’s Boatworks; Lunenburg Foundry & Engineering Limited; Rosborough Boats; Samson Enterprises Ltd.; Shining Waters Marine; Superport Marine Services Ltd.; Tern Boatworks Ltd.; Wedgeport Boats Ltd.

The Nova Scotia Boatbuilders Association (NSBA) was established in 1998 by a small group of leading boatbuilders who shared a common vision of growing and diversifying this maritime industry beyond its original domestic fishing boat market. From a modest beginning, the association’s membership has grown to include 41 boatbuilders and 59 companies supplying products and services to the industry.

In 2005, the NSBA signed the first-ever licensing agreement with New Zealand’s Boating Industry Training Organisation to adapt and deliver their boat builder training materials to apprentices registered in Canada’s Maritime provinces.

From ferries to fishing boats, from sailboats to trawler yachts, the NSBA members design, build, and provide materials and equipment for a diverse range of semi-custom and custom boats. All boats are built to Transport Canada or equivalent standards by a skilled workforce.
