New Boats: Highfield Escape Series

November 6, 2025

Highfield Boats launches the Escape Series, an all-new line of fiberglass-hull center console RIBS made in the USA. The first two models in the series, the Highfield Escape 650 and Escape 750, were unveiled during the Highfield Boats Dealer & Media Day Event at the company’s factory in Cadillac, Michigan.

These versatile RIBS are ideal for families who enjoy a variety of activities like fishing, diving, tubing and other water sports. The Escape Series combines the performance of an outboard-powered, 26-degree deep-V fiberglass hull with the capacity, comfort and safety of a RIB.

The 23’6” Escape 650 is available powered by a 225hp or 250hp outboard, and the 26’6 Escape 750 is offered with a 250hp or 300hp outboard. Rigged with max horsepower, both boats are projected to deliver top speeds in the 50-mph range.

The Escape Series features a fresh, contemporary design complemented by upscale components, decking, upholstery. The stylish optional hardtops provide shade without hindering fishing action from the side decks. Both the Escape 650 and 750 are available in two different eye-catching color schemes.

Another key hallmark of the Escape Series is generous seating, including ergonomic dual helm seats with high sides and flip-up bolsters. The dashboards are large enough to hold a large multifunction navigation/fishfinder display.

The aft cockpit on the Escape 650 features a wide aft seat, while on the Escape 750, a rear-facing seat is positioned opposite for easy conversation. The bow cockpits on both models incorporate a forward-facing seat and sunpad. The bow step is cushioned for easy egress; on the Escape 750, it hides a standard anchor windlass. Storage space is generous on both models including inside the console and under the bow and rear seats.

“Highfield Boats is the world’s leading builder of aluminum-hull RIBS. The rugged design and construction of our Ultralite, Classic and Sport RIBS makes them popular for use both as tenders and primary boats,” Lavigne said. “Earlier this year, we launched our first fiberglass-hull RIB, the ADV7, which has proven to be a big success. With new Escape Series, we are continuing to expand our portfolio of RIBs that make versatile, safe and affordable primary boat alternatives for families.”

By Andy Adams

There is no shortage of fun and exciting new boat designs hitting the market, but for the last few years these have been mainly outboard-powered day boats. Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

By Zuzana Prochaska

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:

…you understand now why you came this way.
