C-Tow’s Scott Crain navigating the ice

The Niagara River normally doesn’t get that bad but on a recent day the east wind blew a large amount of ice to Canadian side near Fort Erie half a mile north of the Peace Bridge.

Helping with the Peace Bridge construction as safety boat, Scott Crain spotted a goose that was clearly injured and needed assistance. Geese in the area sometime get frozen into the floating ice. It was a cold day, but Scott felt for the struggling bird and couldn’t ignore it. He called a friend, Brian Kelley, and together they took the boat and got him into the boat and wrapped it in a jacket. On shore, the SPCA arrived and took the goose to safety. Scott Crain, who is a vegetarian and very much loves animals, hopes the goose will recover and get back on the water for spring.
