Boot 49 coming in January

Boot 1

Sept 28, 2017

Boot is a gigantic boat show held in Dusseldorf German’s Messe Dusseldorf complex. This multi-building facility normally houses several exhibitions at once, but during boot’s run from January 20-28 the entire trade fair campus (bring your walking shoes!) will be turned over to boats and boating equipment in every imaginable shape and size.

More than 1,800 exhibitors from 70 different countries will be presenting their products and services to the very international public at boot 2018. Last year, 242,000 visitors from 70 countries came to Düsseldorf – impressive confirmation of the leading position the trade fair holds on the global market. “Water sports enthusiasts from all over the world visited boot. Our exhibitors have reported excellent sales figures, saying that boot is the most important business platform worldwide”, explains boot Director Petros Michelidakis.

The Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France are the main countries the boot visitors came from. The event also proved very popular in Eastern European countries, Russia in particular, this year, however. The number of visitors to boot 2017 from overseas – Asia and North America – was considerably higher as well.

Last year, the atmosphere in the 17 bursting halls on the exhibition site was buzzing throughout boot and boot 2018 will bring even more excitement with additional exhibitors and displays.

For the corporate exhibitors, the trade fair is a promising start to the new season. For visitors, it is an unparalleled chance to see the world’s finest boats in every category all in one place. If you want to be part of boot 2018, just book a European holiday and head to Dusseldorf. CY will be there – hope you will be too.

By Andy Adams

There is no shortage of fun and exciting new boat designs hitting the market, but for the last few years these have been mainly outboard-powered day boats. So when I heard that Pride Marine in Orillia, Ontario, had a Nimbus 365 Coupe in the water, I jumped at the chance to get out on it.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

By Zuzana Prochaska

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:

…you understand now why you came this way.
