We have a brand new radar course ready for release!

Radar for Boaters has been developed to use The Radar Book, by Vancouver Island author Kevin Monahan, in conjunction with CPS-ECP developed slides and materials. A comprehensive Addendum to the book is provided covering the newly available technologies.

The slides have been completely redone and make use of animation to illustrate a number of concepts. Many of the radar screen shots are from a BC RCM-SAR unit.

Student and instructor files and slides are downloadable for viewing on tablets and computers of all common types. There is no CD.

The existing RADAR pour plaisanciers course will continue to be supported. We are seeking volunteers to source a suitable French language course book and to develop slides, etc. to provide updated content for our francophone members. Please contact cpsradar@gmail.com.

The course can be taught over 5 nights including the exam.

Squadron’s material cost is $70 per student, including book, addendum and shipping.

Instructors may download all their files and slides at no cost. (The book and addendum for instructor use is available at $36 which includes taxes and shipping)

Squadrons should use up any old Radar for Pleasure Craft materials over the next teaching season. Up to March 30th 2018, any extras required of that content will be available “on demand” as there is no more stock. Squadrons should contact Lynda Green at HQ directly as the old materials are not on WBAS. After that date the old materials will not be available.

With an eye to the future, Kevin Monahan has started working on a 3rd edition of The Radar Book which will have updated graphics and content and incorporate the Addendum materials. The majority of slides will remain unchanged although the sequence may differ. Anticipated release of this course update is 2019.
