POTW: Never mind autumn, let’s go

POTW

Oct 8, 2020

This Photo of the Week came from our own CY Team member Sarah C who, like many of us, is trying to coax the last bit of enjoyment out of a seriously disrupted season. “Full winter gear boating this past weekend!” I am sure many of you are taking toques to the boat and doing the same – it’s going to be a long winter.

Please dig into your phones and cameras and send along your boating summer. Did you wear masks? Boat with huge social distances? Was it fun anyhow? Did you race; find a welcome cruising spot, bubble? All shots are perfect for the Photo of the Week so send them along to CYonboard@kerrwil.com and we will build a POTW library to work though in the landlocked, possibly locked down, months ahead.

  • Boats are Important

November 20, 2025 When the budget passed on Tuesday, the burdensome “luxury” tax was removed and the people involved with boating were relieved. Why are boats important, you might well ask. First, there is a whole range of direct economic benefit. Beyond the people who sell boats, right across the country there are mechanics and…

Nimbus 365 Coupe – A real long-stay cruising boat for exploring

By Andy Adams

There is no shortage of fun and exciting new boat designs hitting the market, but for the last few years these have been mainly outboard-powered day boats. Some are day cruisers; some are centre console fishing boats or designed for tow sports. A new live-aboard cabin boat has become a rare item these days.

Tahiti—Updates from Paradise

By Zuzana Prochaska

I’ve been to Tahiti seven times—six on charter and once as crew for a couple of yachties. Over the 25 years that I’ve been visiting, it’s changed dramatically. Yet, inexplicably, it has also stayed the same.

Lounging on the flybridge of our Sunsail 454, I had time to think about this dichotomy as I toasted the nighttime skies of Bora Bora and specifically the Southern Cross, a constellation that never fails to hypnotize. As the Crosby, Stills & Nash (1982) tune reminds us:

…you understand now why you came this way.
