POTW: August 8, 2019

POTW August 8 - Photo by Jessica Lee

Aug 8, 2019

This shot was taken last week by Jessica Lee, a freelance photography pro, Albacore racer and part time crew.  We were aboard Esprit de Corps III, one of Canada’s few internationally competing racers.  Our skipper, Maxime Grimard, who you can see overseeing the amateur media types hauling might appear a trifle amused, since he has taken the boat though some very heavy stuff in pursuit of offshore racing.

POTW - Aug 8 - Atlas

EDC III and Maxime are part of Atlas Ocean Racing, a Canadian sailing team. They were visiting Toronto to acclimatize some new crew and to host one of their key sponsors, Helly Hansen, which also sponsors Chester Race Week.

Here’s Atlas’ shot of the boat underway.

Make your shot the CYOB Photo of the Week

The POTW photo of the week can be anything photographed on or near your boat, boat shows, kids, pets, lunch, costumes, signs – you pick it and send your photos, with a bit of a back story, to CYonboard@Kerrwil.com and put POTW in the subject line.  Take the shots and send them now while the summer sun shines.

By Dave Rozycki

Over the past seven decades, Ontario’s marina industry has developed alongside some of Canada’s largest freshwater lakes. Boaters have been able to enjoy the beautiful scenery and create lasting memories on the water, with certain marinas dating back to the 1960s. As we reflect on this rich history, we can begin to see trends in how our footprint may have had an effect on the environment, in not-so-positive ways. However, by embracing innovative solutions and adopting sustainable practices, both marinas and boaters hold the key to preserving and enhancing the quality of our lakes and marine life for generations to come.
