Lyman restoration continued …

Miss Juicy 1

Oct 11, 2018

Last January we covered some of the work taking place at Bras d’Or boat works on a 1962 Lyman Cruisette, along with a brief history of the Lyman Boat Company. Peter Patterson sent us this update and a few nice pictures of the “almost finished” boat.

Miss Juicy 2“The owners were here over the summer and were eager to give her a go. We were far from done, but with a few coats of varnish on the deck, and the topsides faired and painted, we reluctantly decided to put her in for a few laps around the cove.

Miss Juicy as she is named, spent her second day afloat as the centerpiece of a high-profile lakeside wedding ceremony. On seeing her for the first time, the brother of the owner decided that she would be the perfect vehicle to shuttle his wedding party to the ceremony. She drew so much praise that the owners decided to use her “as is” for the remainder of the season.

Miss Juicy is now back in our shop. She will get several build coats on her brightwork, improvements to her interior, a teak swim platform and tweaking to her powerplant in time for next season.” Peter
